Srsly's Complete Cooking Overhaul

Srsly's Complete Cooking Overhaul (SCCO) is a complete overhaul of all things cooking!
This mod changes all EA recipes to make them more realistic and immersive, expands EA recipes, adds custom recipes, and adds grocery shopping to your game!

I created this mod because I love cooking and wanted more from it in my gameplay.
In real life you might not be able to afford a meal or need to shop before you can cook.
So now you have to in Sims as well!
Just be careful you don't stave...

Current Version of SCCO: 2.3

Main Mod Requires Get to Work & City Living!  

All other packs have optional files.

The mod requires "Get to Work" for the Baking skill, and baking assets. 
It also requires "City Living" due to vegetarian additions/changes to recipes.

Grocery Shopping & Ingredients

With SCCO you are now able to shop for groceries in your game!
This includes all EA herbs, fruit, fish and veggies. 
As well as many new custom cooking ingredients added with SCCO.
NOTE: If you use Custom Harvestables by IceMunMun, Lenaid, KingZace, or BrazenLotus they will show up under their specific sort tag while shopping for groceries.

How to Buy Groceries:

All ingredients can be purchased from the "Shop For" menu on:
- Computer
- Phone
- Tablet
- Cash Register (*Get to Work)

Simply click on the "Shop For" interaction on any of the above to start shopping!
Your sims will interact with the object and then you will be prompted with a purchase menu.

 Items purchased from the Cash Register will be delivered to your Sims inventory.

Items purchased from the Phone/PC/Tablet will be delivered to your mailbox the following day.

Custom Packaged & Single Ingredients


SCCO adds many new cooking ingredients to the game. New ingredients are added all the time!

There are two types of new ingredients: Packaged & Single

Most ingredients are purchased in a "Packaged" form. 
This is so you have a nice presentation to display your groceries in your ownretail store! 
Most ingredients also include 1 small slot on top so items can be stacked easily.

You will need to open the packaged ingredients before cooking
Each packaged items will give you 3-10 of the single ingredient once opened.
You can open packaged ingredients by clicking on them in the world or in your Sims Inventory.

Some "Single Ingredients" can be eaten directly. But be careful... 
Raw Items can make some Sims a little... sick... 

EA Recipes Overhauls and Changes

I have overhauled all EA recipes to make them require more realistic ingredients.
You will now need to use many different harvestables & ingredients to make a dish.

Recipe Crafting Cost and Ingredient Costs

What is a crafting cost? Crafting cost is the price you pay to create the dish. Think of this as misc. ingredients your Sim might use to cook with that aren't required.

All serving sizes now have a set crafting cost:

This means if you have all of the "Required Ingredients" for a dish.
It will only cost you §5-§15 depending on the serving size you create.

You can craft most foods without the required ingredients, but this will cost you more.
You are charged an extra §3 if you do not have the "Required Ingredients"
So in total, you will end up paying the Crafting Cost + Ingredient Cost + §3

Crafting Costs by Serving Size (Small | Medium | Large):

SCCO Key & Optional Features

Any features with a * behind them are optional. You can remove these at any time.

All desserts once found under cooking are now in the baking menu like they should be.
All cooking items in the baking section, have been moved to the cook menu.
All of the items that had a category change also now give skill gain for their new category.
(ie. Cakes that are in baking now give baking skill exp.)
All cakes/pies/cookies (desserts) require the Baking Skill, not Cooking Skill.
All EA recipes now have a Small (1), Medium (4), and Large (8) serving size.
Including Desserts, Experimental Food, Market Stall Taste First Foods and more.
Ice cream now also has the default Large (8) carton size, and a Medium (4) pint size!
Bake Cupcakes at Home
Before, you could only make cupcakes on the giant cupcake machine. Not any more!
You can now make all cupcakes (and other cupcake machine only items) at home in any oven!

Cook Pizza at Home
Before, you could only order pizza via delivery. Not any more!
You can now make all pizza's at home in any oven!

BBQ Pit for Grill
With Island Living we were given a new function item "BBQ Pit". 
But it doesn't exactly fit in every world. So I have expaned the recipes.
You can now make all BBQ Pit items on any grill!

You can purchase these cookbooks from any bookshelf, computer, or anywhere else books are sold. They are each §200 and will teach you every recipe for that game pack that is "taste first" locked.

But what are "Taste First Recipes"?

These are recipes that can only be learned by eating them.
You would have to go to the location that the recipe was sold and taste the dish before you were able to cook it at home.

NOTE: These cookbooks must be read from your sims inventory. 
The interaction menu on the bookshelf to "Read" will not work.
What are Tag Adjustments?

Tag adjustments will allow you to be able to purchase harvestable items that EA did not tag as purchasable from a vendor.
Such as garlic, honey, and spice market spices.
It also fixes some EA double tags, where one item is tagged for both fruit and veggie.
As well as things showing up under incorrect tags, like spinach showing under flowers.

All EA harvestables (fish, flowers, fruit, veggies, herbs) have had their prices adjusted.
They have all been lowered to around the same price as SCCO ingredients.

This is to make things more consistant, and stop sims from being able to make tons of money from gardening.

As most of you know, I put off locking ingredients after finding out it breaks EA NPC's (like Butlers/Caterers/Baristas/etc.) and caused them to no longer function as they were intended.

Thanks to LittleMsSam we now have a way to make a "Required" version without breaking anything!
But it is a little different than what you might be used to.

Normally, when an item is locked it is greyed out but still visible on the menu.
Then becomes unlocked to craft once you have all of the necessary ingredients for that recipe.

This causes EA menus to be 100% blank no matter your skill level.
Once you have the ingredients in your inventory/fridge you will be able to craft it.

For Example: If I had cheese, bread, and butter in my Fridge or Sim Inventory the recipe for Grilled Cheese would appear in the cook menu and allow you to make it.

This file adds all IcyMunMun food/drinks to SCCO "Make Custom Menus" and prevents LE's from not using food group menus.
This takes some of the necessary files from the food group menus to allow Icy's to work properly with SCCO.

Remove this file if you use "The Food Group Custom Drink/Food Menus" or Remove their package files and scripts.
You cannot have both this compatibility and food group menus installed together.
Use one or the other.

If you use any of their custom harvestables, they will be available for purchase under the grocery shopping menus in SCCO. If the creators above release a new harvestable, it will be added on the next official release of Srsly's Complete Cooking Overhaul.

  1. What level in baking skill does my sim have to be to make strawberry cake?

    1. Skill level 2, just as it was before. But you need level 2 in the Baking Skill not Homestyle Cooking.

    1. No it does not conflict. It is 100% compatible.

  15. Hi there, I'm just wondering how this interacts with Icemunmun's recipe overrides for their vanilla and cocoa bean harvestables?

    1. Yes it dose conflict with the EA recipe overrides by Icymunmun. Any mod that changes anything about the EA recipes directly will be incompatible. Custom recipes and harvestables however are compatible.

    2. Does LittleMsSam's Ask to Cook mod interfere with this one? I ask because I'm not sure if it changes the recipes/menus or not.

    3. Yes littleMsSam "Ask to Cook Mod" is compatible! :) If you are even unsure you can check the #SCCO_FAQ in my Discord. All known incompatible mods are listed.

    4. Hmm right after I asked this question I opened the game and some City Living recipes were missing ingredients. I took out Ask to Cook, and they came back, and disappeared again when I added it back in.

    5. I have not used the mod in quite a while, but if you come to my discord and can report some of the issues you are having between the two I can look into a compatibility patch.

  16. I use Coolspear's 99 servings and 7 day freshness mod. I assume those will conflict with your mod but is there anyway you could release those cooking ingredients as decor items? They are absolutely great and I would love to have them to liven up my kitchen and grocery store please and thank you. <3 If not I completely understand!

    1. Actually my mod does no alter the resources that are included in coolspears 99 servings or 8 day freshness. So they should be compatible with SCCO.

  17. Wow... thanks so much for this! One of my gripes from this game was not being able to shop for groceries like in TS2... I always try to keep fresh harvestables in my Sims' fridges but it gets tedious either having them all garden, or going to the produce kiosk. This is beyond perfect and I am excited to go build my Sims a grocery store!

  18. It looks amazing! Can I just check if it's compatible with icemunmun's chicken coop and the eggs that come with that?

    1. Icy's eggs at this time will not work for the EA recipe overrides. But they are compatible and will not cause a conflict with the mod. Just, you have to use the eggs that come with the mod. There will be a customs compatibility patch for the EA ingredients at a later time.

  19. I LOVE THIS MOD, I still wish for a required ingredients option. That would make the game so realistic. The other mods are not as nice as this one so I´m still hoping that the required ingredients option will be added some day. Keep up the good work!

    1. Yes, you still need icymunmuns recipes and food interactions to see her items. They are not included in this mod. They work together though.

  21. I'm sure if I understood right, but do I have to have Get to Work? Or is it ok with just Base Game? (I have Get Together, Seasons, Vampires, Backyard Stuff, Kids Room Stuff, Laundry Day Stuff and Vintage Glamour Stuff.)

    1. Yes, this mod requires Get to Work. As the "Baking" skill that all dessert items use now only comes with Get to Work.

So, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but I can't seem to ever find the buy groceries option. the mod is there, because the ingredients are mentioned, but the thing on the phone doesn't show up, and it's no where on the computer. I really like the idea behind it, but I can't get it to work (and I've deleted and redownloaded several times).

    1. Make sure script mods are enabled in your game, and that the .ts4script files are no more than 1 folder deep inside your mods folder (IE. Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods/SCCO) If it is deeper than that then the game cannot read script mods.
      If you have any more issues, please come to the Discord. It is easier to explain things to help fix issues.

  23. Hi is this compatible with menu expander which support leniads recipes? If not, would you be willing to incorporate some of his old recipes, like soups and snacks and wines. Thank you so much for such a lovely mod

    1. Yes it does work with Lenaids Menu Expander. I actually updated his menu expander for him the other day. You can re-download it on his Download page or in my Discord.
      Some of his recipes however are currently broken for the newer patches. If you find any be sure to let him know. :)

  24. hi! I just updated my mod and now I'm unable to see/make base game recipes. Never had this problem before but I'm unsure what I did wrong this time.

    1. There is a new optional file with 1.7.1 that addeds a "required" ingredient version that makes these changes. Be sure to read the "Read Me" included in the download as well as the latest patreon post for specific information. There is also a section here on the mods main page explaining that new file as well.

  26. Since this mod lowers the price of grocery bought food does it also nerf the base price of harvestables when you sell them? That's something that I would like as a rags to riches Simmer.

    1. Yes! This changes the EA price of all harvestables (fish/fruit/flowers/veggies) This includes their Sell/Buy price and Retail Price.

    2. If you happen to not want this feature, just remove the "Price Adjustments" optional file. :)

  27. Dont download , its literally a waste of time. You never added any new recipes

    1. Excuse me? Really. I add EA content recipes and items that are not able to normally be made at home EVERY single patch. Just because I do not make a never been made before custom recipe each update does not make this a "Waste of time". If you want custom recipes and nothing else there are tons out there. If you don't enjoy my mods and what I do then don't use them. Simple. I put all the time that I have available each month into creating, if my speed of making new items is not fast enough for you. You are welcome to make your own custom recipes too.

  28. Hello. I no longer see the tag adjusments addon option in the folder of the most recent update. I see the harvestables adjustments, but not the tag adjustments! :/

    1. The tag adjustments has been removed as an optional file and included directly in the mod. As I feel at this point is is more needed than not. But you will still need to choose your price adjustment packages if you choose to use them.

  30. Hi, I just wanted to say that I love this mod and the food categories, even though most are empty at the moment it makes me excited to see what recipes are added to the game. The food looks like it actually belongs in the game so its basically maxis match clothes but food! Everything works perfectly, no bugs no glitching. Perfect overhaul mod!

    1. This mod, and all of my mods will always be compatible with KingZace mods. But yes, all of his harvestables can be purchased wile grocery shopping.

  32. Hello Srsly Sims, I downloaded your mod again a few minutes ago. Drinks are not in inventory after purchase. In addition, my Sims can not cook, the refrigerator is filled with food and it also has level 10 in cooking. I previously deleted all cache files. Maybe I'm doing something wrong too? I've been using your mod for a while, so I can't explain it to myself.

  33. Hi , This is amazing - well done. However I can't make cannibis edibles (from basemental) is there something I'm doing wrong or is this mod incompatible?

    1. Yes it is 100% compatible. Are you sure you are clicking on the Stove for the edibles menu? Make sure you have the most recent version of SCCO and Basemental Drugs. If you continue to have issues, stop by my discord.

  34. So if i get this mod i dont need the mts food group mod anymore?

    1. You still need all custom recipes, they are not included.
      You no longer need The Food Group "Custom Food/Drink" interactions, just my compatibility patch included in the addons optional files.
